My family is infamous for calling after 9pm ANY NIGHT of the week..so we’ve slowly eased our way out of the initial “emergency call” thought and take late night calls in stride—most of the time…It has even become some sort of a joke so to speak…the phone rings..I say the repetitive..who could be calling us so late…and hubby says..who ALWAYS calls us late? Then we both know instantly it’s my family…until last night.
We were watching We are Marshall relaxing on the couch when the phone rings…my sister (who is spending the night) brings the phone to me and tells me its coming up on the caller ID as Mr.Awesome’s aunt….well..okay she is supposed to watch BA1 on Wednesday so maybe she is calling to tell me she can’t. That’s my initial thought, but then it’s quickly disposed of since it’s almost 10pm on SUNDAY why would she be calling to tell me this now.
Within seconds the idea of late night phone calls being typical and normal becomes non-existant. Mr. Awesome’s stepdad’s father had a massive heart attack and passed away a little while ago. Complete and utter shock I think took over right away since we seriously JUST SAW THEM….It is so sad to think of someone leaving their loved ones so quickly. No chance to say their goodbyes..nothing. Please keep their family in your prayers.
I think it’s safe to say late night phone calls will have a new meaning to us now for awhile at least!
Hope everyone else’s week started off great!

I loathe FANTASY SPORTS....
My husband is mad at me..he says he's not, but he is...he's mad because he had to give up his spot in his annual fantasy football league because he's not working and I can't justify spending $50.00 on "fun stuff" right now when there are things we are sacrificing. Yes, we do get a pizza occassionally and yes I buy BA1 a toy here and there, but if we didn't incorporate stuff like that into our daily schedules we would go nuts...
My husband tells me (and would tell you) that fantasy football doesn't take up as much time as I make it out to, but it really does. He's constantly checking stats, changing players, trash talking on the boards.
The deal was he could do fantasy football if he had a job by the draft date..well the draft date is quickly approaching and nothing has come up. He took on a bouncing job at a bar a few nights a week so he can bring in extra cash and thought that he could use that money for his league. Normally that would make sense, but we have car insurance bill coming up in September, I haven't gotten a hair cut in seriously 5 months..and look like complete ass...BA1 needs some new clothes because he is growing out of all of his and doesn't have any fall clothes...and we have been scrimping on groceries and paying only the minimum on our credit card bills...doesn't it make more sense to contribute that money to our monthly budget, or am I being unreasonable by asking him to give up fantasy football?

Stressed backwards is desserts. Where are my desserts?
Things have been super hectic to say the least…Mr. Awesome is still un-employed..can’t seem to find anything..it really is sucky…but everyone keeps telling me that everything happens for a reason..I sure hope that’s right. Then onto my wonderful job which has decided to move me to a new location, which makes my commute about an hour each way as opposed to my 20 minute/30 minute drive now…ugh, as if we can afford the extra gas right now. But, be thankful I still have a job.
Oh yea, about my job. Let me just explain that our company started this new plan in March called “Project Fuel” their goal is make the company run more efficiently so they can compete with more companies in their line of work. Sounds good right? WRONG-O…at our company Project Fuel has such a horrible meaning to so many people. They are laying off people left and right and without any warning, other than the fact that they were going to be laying off 1400 people within the next 2 years….WTF….
Anyways, we were told about a month ago that consultants were in looking at our department for possibly outsourcing..wonderful. They won’t give us anymore information. So we are left hanging. Will we have a job in a month, will we be laid off? Who knows…all I know is the severance package I would get would only cover my for about 6 weeks..not much at all….and BA1 needs some health insurance.
Our van (which we bought as a used car about 3 months ago as a back up car) is doing weird things. It’s like it’s possessed or something. The electric sliding door just randomly opens and closes..yea that’s awesome huh? Need to get that fixed. Will be starting a FUND for that soon, you can donate to theawesomeclan@gmail.com ..Kidding kidding!
Baby Awesome has been teething, which is a totally different experience than when he got his first 2 teeth..this has proven to be fun. Let me tell you..Hylands teething tablets are a GODSEND..and if you have babies at home or will be..GET THEM..and always have them on hand!!!!!!! Side note: You can also get the liquid form at Target (in a Winnie the Pooh bottle) and you just put one dropper full under their tongue, then you don’t have to rub their gums.
I’ve been exhausted, Mr. Awesome has been playing softball every Tuesday and Friday and is also involved in other activities that take up a little more time as well..overall we have basically been super busy…and super stressed.
Hopefully better things are on the horizon!

It's the Little Things in Life...
Mr. Awesome had to help me create a garden. Last night I went out to check on it and I noticed I have a mini jalapeno poking through, a few tomatoes (yellow mini ones and big red ones), eggplant, yellow squash, green peppers, cucumbers, yellow bell peppers and a cantalope, yes a cantalope. I was super excited!
And..the previous owners of the house left us some wonderful raspberry plants. ahhh I love raspberries.
Also, after two attempts I have wonderful flowers growing in the front yard...I came in the house last night so excited...I guess it's the little things in life these days that make me happy!

Mr. Awesome's Grumpy Old Gripe
Saddle on up buck-a-roos, it is time for me to lay down some knowledge on you. My gripe today is about speaking with accents. What drives me nuts is when someone who does not have an accent, a Spanish accent for example, says a word in a specific language with the accent of that language. I had a professor in college, former nun, old white lady, kind of crotchety, but 100% not Spanish sounding. Well she would talk about her trips she would take to El Salvador, and I swear that whenever she would say El Salvador, it would need English subtitles. What the heck? How dumb does it sound when you are saying a sentence with your old lady Midwest accent and then you go to say El Salvador and you turn into a Flamenco dancer. My dad does this, it drives me nuts. But he does it with Italian words. My dad does not speak a lick of Italian, but apparently is fluent in Italian Foods. Ricotta, when said by my dad, somehow becomes some Mafioso sounding word. It is like he turns in to the Godfather for that one glorious word. Alright, Mrs. Awesome is yelling at me that I am taking too long, she needs me to run to el supermarche to pick up some Ricotta.
And another thing, I am sick of hearing about Michael Jackson, so here is a video for you that sums up my feelings toward him. As a warning, it is definitely, NSFW! Jon Lajoie on Michael Jackson.

Bacne (and not the back kind)
Baby Awesome (BA1) has come down with a case of baby acne. It's not bad really, but it's the start and I don't want it to get out of control. I don't know if it's the heat thats causing his skin to not be as smooth as it was when he was born, or what, but I know I don't like it! I have tried the Aquaphor lotion on it before bed, but that didn't help any.
Any suggestions on how to tame this?

Culinary GOD
Tonight pork tenderloin was on the menu for dinner..I wasn’t sure how I was going to cook it, but I knew I was going to put it in the crockpot. That was until Mr. Awesome decided HE was going to make dinner tonight. He wanted me to leave the tenderloin seasoning up to him. Let me explain to you how Mr. Awesome works. He loves to season things up..oftentimes way to much, but he’s got good intentions. His favorite seasoning; CUMIN, don’t ask. I stopped. He puts it on everything. Needless to say I arrived home tonight and found the most delicious dinner(no lie) I have ever tasted. I would love to give you the recipe, but Mr. Awesome kinda “winged it” so to speak, maybe I can get him to share on the blog. I’ll beg, I mean ask tonight!
I can tell you though what it entailed. It was a whole beef tenderloin he cut into medallions and seared mixed it with Sherry, water and flour to thicken. He put fresh garlic, some other seasonings and a can of black beans in with it. He let it cook until it was so tender I could use a fork to cut through it. AMAZING.
I was impressed, and once Mr. Awesome is working again we may have to invest in several pork tenderloins and he can cook dinner more often!

Promises Promises
Sorry everyone I have been HORRIBLE with updating…unfortunately things are super stress(as you can imagine) and it’s hard to find time right now to update, but I will PROMISE for real to try my hardest.
On a completely different note, has anyone seen the new Purex washer/dryer sheets? They are supposed to be very convenient, as you just throw one in the washer and make sure you transport it with the clothes when you put them in the dryer. It has the laundry detergent, fabric softener and the dryer sheet all in one. Well…I had some coupons (you will learn soon enough) I LOVE COUPONS….so I tried them…AND HATED THEM…
Let me just say, they are convenient, and I am sure Mr. Awesome would appreciate them if he did the laundry more, but they leave little pieces of blue paper ALL over your clothes…it’s awful. At first I thought maybe someone left a piece of paper in their pocket, but soon realized when I did another load it was indeed the sheets. I don’t think I will be using them anymore, luckily they are offering a money back guarantee…I will surely be sending mine in!

Start of my weight loss journey.....
Today starts my 1st REAL attempt at losing weight since I have put on quite a bit more since having a baby. I don't understand it, but I go nuts trying to so I am going to try my hardest and since I'm a girl and overly self conscious I won't post my starting weight on here I will just post how much I would like to lose and where I am in the process. Ideally I would like to lose 100lbs to be my IDEAL WEIGHT...but ehh I don't know if that will happen. We will see.
If you have any low-fat recipes you can share or any losing weight tips please share them..I need all the help I can get. I'm also going to start working out and my wonderful mom has given us her treadmill she bought a few months back and doesn't really use.. woo hoo
There are three things that are KEY to me losing this weight...
1) NO SWEETS/SUGAR
2) NO fast food
3) No eating after 7pm everynight
4) (okay maybe 4 things)----WORKING OUT
Let's hope this is one successful weight loss journey.
On an exciting note..one of the bloggers I follow on a regular basis, Misadventures of a Newlywed is holding a giveway beginning today for some very cool BAREFOOT wine items. Stop on over and check it out..you have until July 19th to get in on the fun!

Back at it...
Sorry bloggers...I have been MIA for quite some time, but I am back now and hopefully out of the funk I have been in.
A few weeks back Mr. Awesome lost his job. We knew it was coming, we just didn't know when. The business he was in was slowing because of the economy and they have been cutting people in the months prior, but it was his turn. We lucked out for awhile, but couldn't get out of it this time. Now normally I would go into immediate panic mode, but I have tried from the moment he walked in the door and told me to try and NOT do that. Of course, I panic from time to time but nothing like how I normally would. I know he is going to be upset and depressed by what happened, and I don't want to add to his worries and so forth. That and we just can't afford to do that now with BA1 in the house..he's always so happy and why would I want to bring him down?
Now the job search is on and hopefully something comes quick.
We did get a sweet vacation out of all of this...and while we were gone I found these....has anyone tried them...all I can say is AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG---YUM. They are cherry flavored kinda like licorice, with a soft sour filling. The only place I can seem to find them is the gas station..hmm..must stock up on them! :)
That's all for now, I'm going to enjoy this weather!
P.S Mr. Awesomes gripe will be back this week as well!

Mr. Awesome's Grumpy Old Gripe
Apparently my wife blogs about my my family. I figured if she was going to talk about us, that I should get in on that too. So I proposed to her a once a week feature, called Mr. Awesome's Grumpy Old Gripe. I will gripe like an old man about something that is on my mind, in under 5 grammatical errors or less (not guarenteed.)
My first gripe is one I am sure many of you share with me. It all started during our snowy Wisconsin winter, the Aweome Wife and I took a snow day after we woke up to double digit inches of snow. We had prepared in advance by renting a couple movies, just in case. We each got to choose a movie, she chose Mama Mia. What a miserable excuse for a movie that was. That brings us to our first gripe: why the hell was Pierce Brosnan giving a singing role. I mean come on, I know Pierce has the sex appeal of 10 Mr. Awesome's, but I would rather listen to Mrs. Awesome cackle out Row Row Row Your Boat. At some point, the casting director should have realized something was up when his or her ears started bleeding. No amount of sex appeal made up for the rusty pipes that belonged to a former 007. For those of you that have not seen the movie, first let me suggest you wear that fact as a badge of honor, and second, let me try and create an analogy for you. His singing was like listening to Roseanne Barr recited Shakespeare. It was like listening to a voice message from Helen Keller. The sound that came out of his mouth had less appeal than the mole on the lunch ladies arm that always seemed to have 3 long hairs coming out of it. What was this casting director thinking, there had to be someone with a moderate amount of singing ability that has sex appeal, even to Mr. Awesome. If they have a sequel, and this is just an Awesome Brand Suggestion, but maybe Uncle Jesse, and his Rippers are available.
HAVE MERCY! (on my ears)

Mr. Mom
I managed to really make Mr. A mad last night. I was overtired (no excuse) and felt like I was overworked, not really the case I’m sure. I first told him (sarcastically) thanks for the help cleaning…and it all went downhill from there….ugh he called me a drama queen and then I told him I’d rather be a drama queen then lazy. I felt bad after it was said, but in all honesty he will tell you he’s lazy. Nothing wrong with that since we do always get what we need done..done, but I guess this issue is more my fault than anything. I always wonder how guys who don’t get up and do stuff all the time, but rather sit in front of a tv all day or a computer feel like they ever get things accomplished. I would get so bored doing that. Don’t get me wrong, I love relaxing in front of the TV or Computer just as much as the next guy, but I get bored easily and I want to live in a clean house!
Mr. A was the one who really wanted to get a house. I was content in our 1200 sq ft apartment. Yes, I wanted a house, but I knew that Mr. A wasn’t keen on yard work, and the upkeep of a house. But we got one, so we have responsibilities. I have no problem keeping the INSIDE clean, with the occasional help of Mr. A, but why can’t he manage to keep up with the outside. Why can’t he cut the grass when it needs to be cut, and not wait until it’s knee high and I’ve nagged for 5 days….I know I know, I ask too much. I’m so used to my dad, who, even though he worked 40+hours a week would still spending his weekends cleaning up the yard and helping out with odds and ends that need to be done. I’m used to my brother who goes out of his way to help out with things around the house (mostly outside). I know I married a man who has never had to do these things before, but am I really out of line asking that he step up and try?
I guess this is one of those, things I would change about my spouse deals, but when I got married I made a promise to myself I would TRY (it hasn’t ALWAYS worked) to not try and change him because I married him for who he was, not so I could change him to fit my IDEAL man.
I guess it’s good the grass doesn’t need to be cut today! :)

Rain Rain Go Away
Grr..it's summer and it's raining..I hate it. When will these nice temps be here for good?
Yesterday we made a huge uh-oh. Mr. A, BA1 and myself spent all day yesterday away from the house, and when we arrived home last night at about 8:00p.m we noticed the dogs were sitting by the window...but no this couldn't be, not our puppies who are just 2 and still wild, who we lock up EVERY SINGLE time we leave the house. oops...apparently we didn't lock the door on the kennel tight and they got out...Well, they got into all the dirty diapers and SHREDDED THEM ON THE LIVING ROOM FLOOR....yuck..it was awful smelling..they also decided to jump into BA1's crib and bring every blanket and stuffed toy out as well...It could have been much worse, but disgusting nonetheless..
Needless to say I don't think Mr.A will be getting "kisses from the puppies" for a very long time and now my job for the day is finding something to treat our puppies "diaper breath."

This why we're awesome
I was planning on getting so much accomplished tonight, but I'm flat out exhausted....I didn't want to go to bed without sharing a few things that happened today.
First off I'm a cheapskate, lets just get that out right now and anytime I can find a deal or a freebie I'm there, afterall, I am polish..hehe (no offense to those polish followers:) ) so a few weeks ago I signed up HERE for a free sample of this dogfood for my pup, much to my surprise the guy in the brown suit showed up at my door with a package today..a 23 lb package to be exact...and after wracking my brain for 5 minutes trying to figure out what it could be..I opened it...and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a 23lb bag of dogfood..now THAT'S a free sample!!!! sheesh..If you have dogs I highly suggest this free sample. It's supposed to be super healthy for the dogs! They don't have it available ALL the time so check back occassionally and see if you can sign up.
Mr. A made some amazing ribs on the grill tonight....yumm-o....I love cooking and baking all that fun stuff but it is nice when he takes it over for a night now and then. We need to get back on a menu schedule like we tried once before..If I can get going soon I will of course share with you all!I like to do alot of Mrs. Awesome's makeshift recipes. Mr. A doesn't mind so I go with it!
I got myself a sweet haircut today...short for the summer.. It's a layered bob and super cute...we'll see if I still think that tomorrow when I wake up and have to style it myself. It always looks great when you're stylist does it, am I right? Do any of you do anything different to your hair when the seasons change?
Not alot for tonight but I'm off now to watch a movie..a chick flick why Mr. A is gone for the night...He's just not that Into you..read the book and loved it, hope I love the movie just as much!

I need me some bragging rights...
Mr. Awesome and I are constantly going at each other about who is right and who is wrong about things…I think my favorite thing is when we make bets…he says he never makes a bet he won’t win…I beg to differ! :)
Last night we made a bet that will allow me to get my very own (and very first) garden in our backyard..created by Mr. Awesome himself; if I win of course. If I lose I have agreed to wake up with BA1 every day of every weekend until he is one year old so Mr. Awesome can sleep in. Not too big of a deal since BA1 is a champ when it comes to sleeping straight thru the night.
Now, I just need the Milwaukee Brewers to win and the Florida Marlins to lose…
Plus…I need some bragging rights!!!

Natural Family whaaaat??
I am the last to bash anything that makes my life easier, but let me just say that I am not a fan of the BC pill..at all…period (no pun intended). It makes me cranky, makes me hungry 24/7..and makes my body do weird things..and I have a serious grudge since I truly believe it caused a major problem for me back in late 2008 (story to follow).
Let me explain, I am Catholic and I do agree with most everything the church teaches, but birth control is another story. For those of you who don’t know Seasonale is a 3 month birth control pill. I went on it years ago to stop seriously debilitating cramps (sorry TMI). I stayed on it after I got married for a few months for obvious reasons and then went off when I started turning into Mega Bitch experiencing said side effects. I got pregnant(unplanned) what almost seemed like miraculously since dates were far from adding up and 9 weeks later miscarried. I truly believe it had something to do with being off of the 3 month pill for no longer than 2 months before getting knocked up. But, we have no solid evidence so I shouldn’t speculate..I just can’t help it.
This leads me to the predicament I am in currently. Since we just popped out BA1 in December we aren’t ready for another just yet…but rumor has it after a previous pregnancy the body can’t wait to rent out its uterus again…thus making it super easy to get knocked up again. We can’t take any chances just yet. I vowed never to go back on that horrible little pink pill, and Mr. Awesome mentioned back almost ripped his face off for no good reason numerous times that he wouldn’t mind if I never even mentioned the pill again. But, lately it’s been a different story. I worry it will mess up my body and when the time comes again to try for BA2 it won’t happen. I also don’t want Mr. Awesome to divorce me because of a little pill and what it does to me. I know for sure I won’t be going on the 3 month pill, it will strictly be the 1 month.
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I am all ears….

For Better or Worse
Let me first start out by saying I love Mr. Awesome more than anything, but geez louise he has a few things that cause me to want to poke my eyeballs out….I’m sure he’s not the only hubby who does these things so I’m sure some can relate…
-he never finishes what he starts…example: tonight he cut the weeds from the side of the house and left them strewn all over the driveway, then went inside on the computer. I mean come on, how hard is it to sweep the weeds out to the street so the street sweeper can clean them up.
-he likes to cook, but not to clean up afterward. I will be the first to say the food he makes is amazing most of the time, but it’s not THAT amazing that I like to clean it up afterward!
-he is obsessed with fantasy sports---refer to worse than crack…
-he leaves dirty clothes everywhere
-he doesn’t ever do anything without me mentioning it then when I mention it..I’m nagging…grrrrr
I wouldn’t trade him for anything, but sheesh. Anyone know of a good husband training class? J hehe

New Mom's Wish List
When I got pregnant I was ecstatic. I had wanted a baby of mine forever. When we (accidently) found out we were having a boy, I was a bit bummed strictly because I love shopping and boys aren’t near as fun to shop for as girls.
After we have BA1 I changed my thoughts QUICKLY as I immediately began shopping for him. Aside from the cute non-necessities I have managed to find several things I just couldn’t live without. I have compiled a list of a few things I highly recommend for moms to be. Enjoy!
ZIPPERED ONESIES
These are amazing. I can't tell you how many times BA1 went to bed with unmatched buttons or snaps and it always felt like after I was done changing him and tried buttoning all his buttons or snapping all his snaps he needed to be changed again. ugh.. The Children's place makes tons of these, and I also recommend Gerber brand; cheap and they get the job done.
TRIPLE PASTE DIAPER RASH CREAM
While a little pricey is worth every penny. It works BEFORE your child develops diaper rash. We used it at the first sign of diaper rash, and nothing ever became of the rash. A few extra bucks in your pocket or a baby without a red hiney? It's a no-brainer.
FISHER PRICE JUMPEROO
Little BK1 loves this...and so does Mr. Awesome, heck I do too.. We could watch him bouncing and smiling in this thing all day long. If you have the space I highly recommend one of these!
FORMULA CONTAINERS
These are a lifesaver when traveling, or even just running a few errands. They hold 3 bottles worth of formula. The only negative I can find is that each segment only holds three scoops of formula (6ounces) so if your little one drinks more than 6ounces at a time you may have a problem.
Nail Files---ARE A MUST---so much easier than a nail clipper at this young age.
Pampers Swaddlers Diapers
Prefold Cloth diapers (we use these as burp clothes)
Sony BabyCall Monitor--this is the quietest baby monitor ever. You hear nothing until he/she cries. The range is also amazing.
LEAPFROG Baby Tad---this doll was the best gift we ever received. It plays different types of music, our favorite being the lullaby music FOR 10 full minutes!! woo hoo!

Worse than Crack...
Mr. Awesome likes football….wait…he LOVES football. When football season is here he eats, sleeps and breathes football. He coaches a youth football league, which I love watching and helping with. He watches every game he possibly can, which I enjoy doing as well, that was until I was introduced to fantasy sports. Ugh..Mr. Awesome seriously might love fantasy sports more than he loves me.
I can’t enjoy watching a game anymore with him because it involves him commenting on every player and their stats, checking stats on the laptop, or calling one of his friends to comment on a player or points that were just scored.
I understand that this is one of his hobbies, but does it need to involve constant checking of scores, emails about trades, etc every waking moment? If I wasn’t there to remind him to eat, he may forget because he’s so wrapped up in “researching” fantasy related things on the internet.
I think he owes me this for putting up with this fantasy "stuff!" :)

Awkward...
Mr. Awesome is upset with the MIL because she “embarrassed” him publicly. I don’t always, but this time I can certainly side with him 100%. She is out of line sometimes with the things she says and asks him, but I figured it was just her being the worrisome mom she is…but honestly it has gotten worse, not better. Mr. Awesome is 26 years old and doesn’t like to be very open with people, even me..his own awesome wife…..and she is constantly being nosey when it comes to his life…is it just me or is there a point where you think mom’s should leave well enough alone? So, they aren’t speaking and it’s awkward for me. I get the occasional calls and emails asking about him, the weird silences when we are all together because neither will talk to each other. While I don’t think Mr. Awesome has any apologizing to do I do think something needs to be done to avoid BA1 from getting hurt, after all he’s only a baby and wants to be around him grandma and his dad. Something has to give..

You're life is now complete.....
I’ve been a loyal blog follower for quite some time now…I read serious, hilarious, helpful and downright sad blogs..and frankly I realized it’s time I join the ranks and create my own. I mean, come on I have to have at least some good blogging qualities, right?
A few things about me:
1-I’ve been married for 2 years to a man (Mr. Awesome) who thinks he’s awesome in every way, shape and form, luckily I do to. :)
2-I’m awesome by marriage. :)
3-There was so much awesome between the two of us we got together and created baby awesome (BA1) who was born in December 2008.
4-We live in the Midwest; Wisconsin to be exact.
5-I hate folding laundry more than anything in this world.
6-I love shopping and couponing. It has taken over my life recently.
7-I work in finance even though I have a degree in PR and Spanish.
8-I hate fantasy sports—Mr. Awesome loves them more than he loves me. Ha
I’m sure more little quirks, annoyances, etc will come out through this blog. I hope you enjoy reading. Andddddd, since you’re reading my blog…your life is now complete!
